Week 8 - Answer boards and social searching

When I signed in to Yahoo!7 Answers id was lost. So much information and where do I start. Do I look for library information, family history, information about Dunedoo, nope, I looked up the Stumpy Tail Cattle Dog. I was a little upset to learn that in other countries like USA, they still dock tails on Cattle Dogs and then called them Stumpies. I am glad that here in Oz we have a law that prevents this happening.
I will have to go back and look for other interesting questions as that was fun.

Week 5 WIKI's

I had a good look around at all the different things on Wookieepedia. I can see wikis having great opportunities for libraries worldwide.

It is very easy to edit information on this site, the only problem Ican see would be controlling what information is contributed. I have always been told that it is not a trustworthy site, but after reading the stats, maybe it could be useful for certain information.

Looking up information on any new technology could also help.

Week 4 RSS Feeds

When I first I did complete the uploading 5 RSS feeds to the Google reader. It was fun and enjoyable and very easy to do. I don't think I will get to spend a lot of time looking back at all the feeds. There is so much information available and I can see that this would be useful for students studying a certain subject, but I can also see there could also be a case of too much information.

Week 3 Flicker Fun

What fun it is to look up just about anything and find fantastic photos. I found a photo of my street and it was taken by some-one who doesn't even live in NSW.

Here is the link to have a look for yourself.....

I have even found a long lost cousin who I have not seen in a while. It is great to catch up and see his travelling photos.

I didn't think that this going to have an impact, but I was wrong. I have now posted photos myself and I also have invited others to join up and share theirs too.
